To dive a little deeper, we had a chat with PV sponsored female surfer Luana Silva 😍
Born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu, Luana started surfing from a very young age! Her advice for future generations of surfers? “Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you.” 🌴
Get to know Luana better here:
PV: How old are you? At what age did you start to surf?
Luana: I am 17 years old and I first started to surf at the age of 4 years old.
PV: What made you decide to start surfing professionally?
Luana: I've always been a competitive person. Growing up, I wanted to be the best at everything. I fell in love with surfing and just wanted to be the best at it.
PV: Who is your favorite sports hero?
Luana: I don’t necessarily have one favorite sports hero, but I look up to many athletes who have made a huge impact in sports. I’d have to say my favorite at the moment would be Kobe Bryant. His dedication to his sport really inspires and drives me to want to succeed at what I do.
PV: What is your favorite food to eat the night before a big competition?
Luana: My mom always makes me the biggest and best bowl of pasta before a big day of competition.
PV: What is/was your favorite place to compete?
Luana: I always love to compete at home. I get such positive energy when I compete there. I loved competing in Portugal and Australia as well, great vibes and great people!
PV: What one word describes you?
Luana: I’d like to say ambitious.
PV: What mental tool do you use under pressure?
Luana: Breathing always helps me!
PV: What do you do to relax in your downtime?
Luana: I just love to chill on the beach and take naps!
PV: Tell us about your greatest achievement.
Luana: Winning the challenger event in Portugal last year was one of my most special wins. After that, qualifying for the world tour was the cherry on top last year!
